This was the air route planned for my flight from Abu Dhabi to Dublin last week. The route prepared by the Jeppesen is normally the shortest flight time and the minimum fuel requirement to reach the destination after reviewing the weather forecast for the most advantages wind component. The solid thick black line is the Great Circle line, the shortest distance between two points on the surface of the Earth and the red line is the route that we flew, following the Airways. My airline is a customer of Jeppesen who plot the route and prepare the flight plan on each flight.
Here are the pictures of the routes back ,DUB to AUH which I saved in googles earth format. Easier to refer now, less opening up of airways charts. The thumbtack points are the waypoints on the airways chart, BIG is a waypoint overhead London City.

bro...route nie..mmg company jepun tu akan bg up to date er?..ke kalau da ada kat atas tue..in case of bad weather..mcm mana lak er adjust route tue?..dasat btol er...in terms of communication..laptop pilot ada internet er?..sorry..tanya soklan stupid..sbb kan benda tue semua wireless@cucuk wire internet..sungguh tidak faham.
Selalunya route dipilih base on 12 hours weather forecast. High level weather forecast very accurate, even kat flight plan dah bagi tau kat mana area yg ada turbulence.Route adjustment not necessary,sebab normally yg di pilih tu memang the best, cuma deviation up to 40 miles left or right of track tu nak elak awan tebal boleh mintak kat ATC in the air.
Laptop kita org memang ada wireless,aircrat ada broadband tapi skang ni blum guna lagi.So 1 hr before leave the hotel,kita org log on internet dalam bilik dan all data pertaining our flight boleh download straight away.Just log on to JEPPESEN ,put in the flight number and date, with the password, dapat la semua, macam flight time,how much fuel required,route map. terbang tinggi mana,weather for departure,destination airport etc etc.Masuk plane kira dah tau semua la.Tak perlu fikir banyak lagi.

Kalau yang long haul, A340, ada 2 set of crew, 2 captain 2 FO.
Halfway, tukar driver.
Sakng ni flight engineer memang dah tak guna dah.
